In Pieces

Ruth Steinberg

Looking for a way to explore depression without making clichéd images I chose the cyanotype process for its interpretive possibilities, which allowed for multi-layering of self portraits and plant material to evoke, rather than tell, my story.

Ruth Steinberg is a visual artist who uses photography and other media  to open doors of conversation about challenging topics such death and dying, aging, and illness. Through visual storytelling she examines facets of dignity, resilience, and presence, particularly with the elderly and other less-seen populations.
